Chair's Update

So far so good*. Aka let us try not to speak in cliches

I always struggle with things like this. I look at a blank screen and wonder what a Chair’s Update actually is. Then I reflect on the brilliant work the team are doing. We’re two months out and it’s all starting to come together. Nearly two years of talking, planning and work. Countless conversations around ‘shall we do X’ or ‘let’s approach person Y’ and so on. Hundreds of collective hours doing our best to build the best possible Eastercon we can for all of you.

Dear everyone,

Thank you so much for filling out the programme form, and for your ideas and/or willingness to participate in programme for Iridescence, the 2026 Eastercon!

We are starting to put panels and other items on PlanZ so we can assign these, and would like to ask you to register for PlanZ if you want to be on programme. You do need to be a member of Iridescence for this, so if you haven’t bought your membership yet, please do that first! (https://eastercon2026.org/register

Chair’s Update

Hi everyone,

It’s a great pleasure to welcome you to Iridescence, the 77th Eastercon and to be returning to Birmingham which is always such a great place to celebrate our fandoms. With just over four months to go, the team is busy assembling what is shaping up to be a really interesting and enjoyable convention for you all. And it really is for all of you, Iridescence is about celebrating variety and diversity, finding joy in our fandoms and light in the darkness even as the world around us becomes ever more challenging.

Meg is Glaswegian Geordie con runner who when left unsupervised has a tendency to volunteer. She is currently Co-Programme Division Head for LAcon V and was Vice-Chair and Co-Division Head for Promotions for the Glasgow 2024 Worldcon. Meg also serves on the bid committee for Dublin 2029, is senior staff for Satellite 9, and has worked (or is working) on multiple Eastercons.

In fandom she found her family, and discovered that conrunning involves not just emails, spreadsheets, and timelines—but also filking, punning, and applying glitter to friends and strangers alike.
